Carolina Comments, the quarterly newsletter of the Office of Archives and History, is a summary of recent news stories involving the official activities of three divisionsHistorical Resources, Historic Sites, and History Museums. Topics covered include many of the day-to-day activities of the seven respective sections of the division; the status of projects, studies, or publications in progress; forthcoming special events; news of particular interest to the historical and literary communities; news involving members of history department faculty in the state’s colleges and universities; and recent activities by state, county, and local historical organizations. Periodically, brief essays on topics relating to North Carolina history are accepted from the public. Such essays must be related to statewide or regional history of North Carolina. An original manuscript or speech should be six to twelve pages in length and in double-spaced typewritten text. The editor prefers that submissions also be on a 3 1/2 inch PC-compatible diskette; however, a diskette is not required. The editor also prefers that a manuscript not be heavily annotated. Accompanying illustrations are encouraged and must be a print or in a tif format. JPG electronic files are unacceptable. Material primarily genealogical is not accepted. Subscriptions to Carolina Comments are $10.00 per year. Individuals who subscribe to the North Carolina Historical Review automatically receive a subscription to Carolina Comments.
